10/19/22 Yesterday, HabitatNRV hosted the groundbreaking ceremony of our Concrete Duplex in Pearisburg. We are excited to partner with The National Ready Mix Concrete Association's Build with Strength Coalition for this build. Together we are building strong and resilient housing!
Our Groundbreaking Ceremony provided a platform for the Giles County Community members, Pearisburg residents, Giles County Technology Center students, Chandler Concrete, Roanoke Cement, Salem Stone Corp, Airfoam Industries, NRMC, Titan America, Solid Rock, along with government officials to come together with HabitatNRV to celebrate this new endeavor. The speakers for the event included Jim Drader, Executive Director- HabitatNRV, Greg Lewis CCO- NRMC, Bob Chander, Owner- Chandler Concrete, Kevin White, Principle- Giles County Technology Center, Jason Ballard, Delegate- District 12, and Kim Snider, Resource Development Director- HabitatNRV, who served as MC for the event. At the end of the ceremony, attendees where invited to sign 2 of the blocks that will be placed in the foundations for each home. We are so grateful for our new partnerships and continued partnership with the GTC students. This duplex will provide safe, resilient, and affordable homes for 2 families in the New River Valley.
