What Are Gifts-In-Kind?

Habitat for Humanity accepts donations that reduce the costs of building our homes. These donations have run the gamut and have included:

• Reduced cost or free services from numerous building professionals, including carpentry, roofing, plumbing, HVAC and electrical contractor

• Donations of appliances, building supplies, door hardware, plumbing materials and other fixtures

• Free or low-cost legal services for our closings

• Gifts of land and buildings
   

Matching Gifts

You may be able to increase the power of your gift to Habitat.

Many companies in the New River Valley and throughout the U.S. provide matching gifts to increase the impact of their employees and retirees gifts. In addition to matching employees monetary donations, some companies match volunteer hours with monetary donations. Please check with your employer to see if it has a matching gift program.
Make a community challenge matching gift during campaigns like GiveLocal or Giving Tuesday.

Planned Gifting

Making a planned gift to Habitat for Humanity of New River Valley is an investment in the future of our community. Your gift will help ensure that low-income, working people in our community who seek to realize the dream of homeownership will always have somewhere to turn.

A planned gift also can provide tax benefits. Bequests, charitable trusts, gifts of life insurance, and gifts of retirement benefits may each have beneficial tax consequences to you or your heirs.

Gift To ReStore

Habitat ReStores are always looking for donations, and can even come to you to pick them up! Our store can pickup donations if you live in Blacksburg, Christiansburg, and other select areas in the NRV. We are interested in unused home project items, gently-used furniture, appliances, doors, windows, unused contractor items, etc. Additionally, we are looking for relationships with businesses to recycle their returns, factory seconds, etc.
